Colts Take On Falcons in Berlin – Week 10 NFL Action
Guten tag, football fans. Wie gehts? Alles klar I hope on this fine early start to week 10 coming directly from Germany. The Olympiastadion in Berlin to be exact where at 9:30 AM EST and 2:30 PM GMT the powerful Colts (seven wins and two losses) face off against the Atlanta Falcons (3-5). This marks the fifth matchup played on soil in Germany and the initial in the nation’s capital.
Pregame Key Moments
When it comes to glittering attire that is an real standout from the Olympic figure skater on the opening flip. A slight fluff from Sky Sports there as we hear “who won the toss?” from the presenter with an unfortunately hot mic.
Well, the Colts have won the toss and have elected to receive. The Colts' offense will be setting up shortly. Will the QB bounce back after a rough one in Pittsburgh?
In a similar vein the vocalist performing the Star Spangled Banner has some of the largest shoulder pads you are ever likely to see. The fashion picks are impressive today. We are almost underway after a choral number for the national anthem of Germany. Elegant.
First Quarter Action
Colts 0-0 Falcons 13:30, 1st quarter
And we're off! And we have early drama after the Colts running back catches a screen pass, sweeps out for 15 yards to the right side then fumbles … only for his offensive lineman to recover the fumble with the recovery. Colts are in Falcons territory already.
Colts 0-0 Falcons 10:51, 1st quarter
And the drama keeps coming as the Indianapolis attempts a fourth-down conversion. The gamble fails to pay off as the wide receiver cannot reel in a quick pass from Jones. Prior to the failed attempt the Falcons defender put a massive tackle on tight end Mo Alie-Cox. Atlanta's defense started strong as they try and snap their three-game losing streak. Next up Sauce Garner’s debut!
Score Updates
First score: Colts lead 6-0 at 8:36
Was that a missed touchdown by Kyle Pitts? The Falcons player makes a crucial error, he was very open but the ball just slips through his grasp. That play rather sums up the first round pick’s career to date.
A disappointing start but it only deteriorates for the Atlanta as they cough the ball back to the Indianapolis on the 23-yard line. The Falcons quarterback is sacked and fumbles the football.
An agile 22-yard rush from the Colts receiver sets Jonathan Taylor up to easily run for a touchdown on the following play. Kicker Michael Badgley skews the extra point wide. Oops.
Falcons respond: 6-7 at 6:07
The quarterback recovers from the turnover by leading Atlanta on a long drive for a score of their own. Drake London makes some chunky receptions to put them in the red zone then the defense opens up for the running back to saunter on to the goal line through the middle of the defense for a 13-yard gain. He completes the drive for a one-yard touchdown of his own. The Falcons take the lead.
