The January recruitment period proves to be a period of significant rumour and potential major deals. A number of notable footballers find themselves linked with moves away from their current clubs. Here is a look at a selection of the major names that are poised to be changing clubs in January.

Antoine Semenyo

Despite the Black Stars' failure to reach the AFCON, this has kept the player in contention, indications are an important move is close. The Bournemouth attacker has a deal with a £65 million buy-out clause applicable for a brief period at the start of the month. Recent reports point to Manchester City look to have won the race for his services. Other interested parties such as Tottenham and Chelsea reportedly have moved on to other targets, potentially opening the door for clubs such as Liverpool or Manchester United to attempt a late move.

M. Guéhi

This English centre-back has impress for Palace despite a summer move to Anfield falling through. As his contract due to run out in the summer, January is the London club's final chance to obtain a fee for their captain. M. ter Stegen

The experienced Germany shot-stopper is now as third-choice at Barcelona under the coach Flick. After lost his place and had an operation, a winter exit looks increasingly likely. Aston Villa were initially linked as a potential suitor, but that option currently seems unlikely. Instead, clubs from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are reportedly showing curiosity in the 33-year-old.

K. Smit

This highly-touted Dutch midfielder has earned comparisons to Kevin De Bruyne for his playing style. After impressing at the U19 Euros, Smit has become a regular in the AZ side. The 19-year-old is heavily tipped to make a major move this month. Newcastle United reportedly are leading the chase, but could face strong rivalry from Real Madrid for a signing priced at approximately twenty-two million pounds.
