Spurs Boss Frank Calls Goalkeeper Critics 'Not True Genuine Fans'

Fulham Begin Powerfully to Defeat Tottenham and Raise Pressure on Frank

Spurs supporters who jeered goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario were informed afterwards "those individuals cannot be true Tottenham supporters" by manager Thomas Frank.

Spurs let in a pair of goals in the opening initial moments to fall 2-1 to their opponents, registering their tenth top-flight home loss of the year.

But the main topic of discussion was Fulham's next score when Vicario lost possession well beyond his box.

The goalkeeper ventured out to deal with a high pass and took the ball towards the sideline.

But, rather than kicking it out of play, the Italy international turned and attempted to clear away, but slipped as the ball glanced off Wilson and was controlled by Josh King.

King laid the ball off to Wales midfielder Wilson, who bent a shot into the goal from the touchline recorded at thirty-six point six metres.

Seconds afterwards when the ball came to the keeper once more, a number of Tottenham fans booed him.

The team were jeered off at half-time, with the club 2-0 down, and again at the final whistle.

One of those booing episodes truly angered Frank.

"It came to my attention some of our supporters reportedly jeered the incident and jeered following, which, in my view is totally unacceptable," the Danish manager stated about the supporters' response to his goalkeeper.

"[They] can't be real Tottenham supporters that act that way. Alright booing after the game, fine, but when we are playing, we are supporting each other, we are with each other moving ahead."

Kenny Tete had handed Fulham a fourth-minute lead before Wilson's strike – with Mohammed Kudus netting for Tottenham in an improved second-half showing.

Former top-flight keeper Hart stated that the next score was "totally avoidable".

"I do understand the supporters' frustration," the ex-keeper continued. "I know the part Vicario is performing. He's a excellent squad member, he is a true figure in the dressing room but ultimately you are going to be assessed by your decisions.

"The keeper was heavily implicated in what ended up to be the winning goal."

'It's In the Game, I'm a Big Man'

Thomas Frank Stood Up For His Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario After the Match

Italy national team Vicario is in his 3rd campaign with Spurs.

The 29-year-old said following the match that he had to take the feedback.

"That score was a mistake of my own, I take responsibility for that," he said.

"The intent was to kick the ball long and I just hit the ball in a bad way. It was an more difficult mountain to climb."

He stated receiving jeers "is part of the game".

"I'm a big man, how can I respond?" he added. "The team cannot be affected by the circumstances in the crowd. Supporters have the right to do what they think.

"It is on us to stay more composed, to focus on our own performance. We are lacking in composure and calmness to reverse outcomes. Today is a poor defeat and it's tough to accept."

'I Was Surprised Nobody Returned to the Line'

In spite of Vicario's mistake, it was not an easy goal for Wilson to score.

In fact it was the second longest-range top division score of the campaign – after Adams' 43.3 metre strike for the Cherries against Sunderland, which interestingly also occurred on Saturday.

Wilson said he was "a little bit surprised" that he still had an open net to aim for.

Ten moments elapsed between Vicario coming out of his box and the midfielder shooting – which was 5 moments following the kick.

"It seemed to me like the keeper was away from the box for a long time," he remarked.

"It amazed me none of the back four returned to the goal line. When none of them covered the net, my eyes sparked somewhat.

"[Destiny] Udogie fell as well, which gave me a bit of extra opportunity. After that it was all about trying to make the right connection and place it on target. I felt a positive sense, as soon as it came off my foot, that it was heading in."

'When You're in a Bad Spell, Everything Appears to Go Against You'

Booing Whilst We Are Still Playing Is Completely Unjustifiable - the Manager

Although the keeper's mistake dominated headlines, this was an all-round poor performance for Spurs to extend their home ground struggles.

The match was their tenth at home defeat of 2025 in the league, a joint team statistic along with nineteen ninety-four and 2003.

They still have home games against Frank's old side Brentford and title holders the Reds to come before the close of the season.

Just a single of those wins have come after the manager replaced Ange Postecoglou in the summer.

"When you're behind 2-0 following six minutes, there is a mountain to climb," stated Frank.

"During in a poor run, everything appears to work against you too – the first was a deflected attempt, the second is a mistake from the keeper.

"The outcome puts us in a position where we have lost an additional match. Every game has a single narrative, today we lost in the first six minutes.

"We just need to keep working. The later period was much better and with luck an aspect we can use to develop."

Spurs have lost four consecutive home London derbies for the initial time in the top division.

And they are recording nine point five attempts and three point two shots on target per match in the Premier League – their poorest averages on file in a one campaign (dating back to 2003-04).

Ex- Cottagers midfielder Danny Murphy stated that the manager has to endure the criticism.

"He's got accept the criticism," the pundit said. "He has taken a high profile role at a major football club with massive expectation. There is scrutiny and responsibility that comes with that.

"The performances at their stadium have been poor and they have to improve {quickly|
