The Canadian Team Exonerated of American Allegations of Manipulating Skeleton Olympic Selection Event
The Canadian skeleton team were cleared of charges that they deliberately manipulated a selection race for the Winter Olympics, thereby denying rival athletes a spot to secure their place.

A prominent American athlete Katie Uhlaender accused the team from Canada of withdrawing a majority of its entered athletes from a race in Lake Placid. She claimed this shrunk the competition, making a lower points pool available. Although she took first place, Uhlaender did not secure her berth for the Milan-Cortina Games.
“The current IBSF Rules permit member nations to pull competitors from an event at any time,” stated the governing body.
