A fundraising initiative is aiming to propel a Palestinian lullaby to the peak of the festive singles chart. The effort hopes to provide aid to people in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian culture and creativity.

An Opportunity for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a chance to stand with Palestinians this festive season. He noted the potential for an surprise number one.

“That would be amazing if that occurred, yes,” he said. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it doesn't manage to, holiday tracks are a unique phenomenon.”

Defiant Message of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the reimagining of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's powerful central theme.

“It occupies a very special place for a lot of people,” Barghouti explained. “The message is that I would rather die in dignity than live a life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we seek to lead a life of dignity that we merit as a people.”

Track's Background and Star-Studded Lineup

The single was laid down in the wake of a major charity concert held in September. First conceived to be captured during the live event, the rendition was omitted from the lengthy event due to scheduling overruns.

The impressive roster of performers appearing on Lullaby includes a range of acclaimed names from the music world. All were part of the earlier concert, which successfully generated a considerable total for relief efforts.

Production and Release

Lullaby was brought to life by a team of producers and composers. The track showcases a mix of the original Arabic with freshly written English words.

The organizers behind the initiative have stated that their objective is to raise as much as possible for a dedicated fund. These donations will be channeled to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an non-profit partner.

“There is no a fixed goal,” a representative explained. “We aim for as much as possible. Naturally, the higher the total, the greater the impact. All proceeds are directed out to the people of Gaza.”

“Against that backdrop, a couple of million doesn’t make that much difference. But I think the significant factor is first of all raising awareness for this issue and proving there’s another side to the story.”
