The Streaming Platform is Developing a Popular Game TV Show from the Minds of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The most recent action-packed instalment that audiences experienced was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and debuted on October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for delighting in chaos and insanity with equal glee, all while telling engaging, politically driven narratives. No wonder then that FX's recent announcement for a Far Cry seasonal program brought on board two producers whose work have embodied all of those elements.
About the Series
Based on Ubisoft's successful video game property, the short-run anthology series will be available on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The series will also mirror the video games' style by introducing a different setting and ensemble in every instalment.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as executive producers on the series through their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared outstanding partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are working together for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is original, gripping, and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our partners at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this popular property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also star in the show, but currently, we do not know what part that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently approved for more episodes, with FX and Disney finalizing a new comprehensive agreement with the showrunner.
“Having the opportunity together with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly generous, placing faith in us with one of the most famous video-game realms ever created. And throughout this process, my FX partners continues to lift me up with their ongoing trust and backing.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an standalone program. Each game is a interpretation of a idea, the same way every run of Fargo is a adaptation on a story,” explained Hawley. “To develop a epic action show that can evolve from one instalment to the next, while always delving into the core of people through this intricate and unpredictable viewpoint, is a dream come true. I’m thrilled to partner with Rob and introduce our common bold, daring approach to the screen.”
A time frame for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
